Tut! I've been neglecting the blog somewhat so here's a little write up about a great day at Tibenham Wings and Wheels yesterday.
Sunday 3rd of August we flew both aircraft into Tibenham for their first Wings and Wheels event. We managed to secure a great spot in between a Tiger Moth and Luscombe Silvaire and we'd only been there 5 minutes when a beautiful old Lagonda parked just next to the GT450.
We were joined by some enthusiastic students, a couple of flying buddies and Gary's wife Jo - so a good sized team to deal with what seemed like a non - stop stream of interested aircraft enthusiasts. Suffice to say our stock of leaflets and business cards is a little depleted!
Being airside we had a ringside seat for the displays; we were in unanimous agreement that Pitts Special G-EWIZ stole the show - his party piece being a 90 degree roll at take off then flying knife edge at about 20' with smoke billowing. Brilliant flying!
In fact when we came to leave he departed in similar style, enveloping us in smoke as we held at the intersection. My call of 'G-NV is not cleared for IMC' raised a chuckle in the Control room.
All in all, a brilliant day - well done Tibenham!
